HEALTHY DINNER

Posted by Fiona-Faith-Chong at 10:32 PM 0 comments

It is always better to have home made dinner than dining outside, because you will never know how clean the food is and how healthy it is. Good thing about home made cooking is that you can put in whatever you like and mix and match with it.

I always believe that cooking is easier than baking, because in cooking you can always correct your mistake (for example if it the dish is over salty, you can always add in water to recook it again or add some sugar to minimize the salty taste). As for baking, once it is cook it is cook and there's nothing you can do to correct it unless you redo everything again.

I have been cooking chicken with different sauces and served with salad the whole week for my family. White meat (eg: fish & chicken) is always healthier compared with red meat (eg: duck, lamb & Beef). Therefore in my cooking i would prefer using chicken mostly and cook in western style. I always prefer there's a veges in my meal, so i will always have different type of salad that i think will goes well with the chicken.

So for tonight dish, it's "Citrus-herb game hens served with skillet potatoes with green beans" The meat are tender and moist and the green beans are crunchy. For this dish, it is better to buy a Cornish Chicken (which is smaller than normal chicken) so the portion is just for 2 and because each serving is with half a piece of chicken, so i think it is just the right amount to be consume for dinner which is not fatten but healthy.

Yummy yummy!

THE ONE WHO LOVES TO BAKE AND COOK - About me

Posted by Fiona-Faith-Chong at 1:17 PM 0 comments

I believe my theme has already divulged the notion of this website. I'll have you know a strong passion when it comes to food, and so i will be brusque. Without further enlightenment, i indisputably welcome all the connoisseurs and bon vivant out there to have a look at my website so that we can exchange thoughts and ideas. I welcome all criticisms as long as it's relevant to gourmet.

Here's a little information about me ~~~

I have no favorites when it comes to food. Simply put, i adore all kinds of cuisines ~ from different exquisite nations' culinary to sweet and extraordinary desserts, anything you can name i will try it. And if i am given the opportunity to learn the recipes, i would get my hands on them and master the technique of pastry-cooking. And one fine day, i will surely be engaging myself in this industry and have a business of my own.

However, due to the fact that i am in employment and i am not ready to give up that remuneration as of yet, my future plan will have to be put on hold for the time being. On the contrary, i am taking every chance to save up in order for my dream to come true so i will be striving hard. Aside from the wages that i earned, i also have a little business going on where i can created a lot of new recipe. It will be a start up for my future business as well because i get to advertise my chef skills and at the same time amplify my capital. (Am i a genius or what??) But i must say things are never as successful that you want it to be because sometimes the food that i made turned out to be imperfect. Aaahh... that's when i will feel dejected and wanted to just give up; i mean why should i compensate my leisure time and beauty rest for failure... Then again, at the back of my head something will always tell me not to let go of my dream.. Probably my conscience... That's why i always believe that, "There is no failure except in no longer trying". Besides i can't disappoint my friends, family and all the customers that had always supported me. All the encouraging words and good comments really took the pain away and i can see my gloomy world becoming bright and shiny again anticipating for success.

I named my blog "Taste of Heaven" because i hope that all the cookery that i made will make you feel like you are in heaven. The moment when you have a mouth-watering food in your hand and you close your eyes when you take the first bite, your face would slowly break into a smile and you slowly savor the scrumptious delight in your mouth. And then you exclaimed, "Mmmmmmmmm, i think i am in heaven", as you feel yourself floating in heaven.. i know, i know... its sound exaggerating right, but i hope my customer will feel the love from the food that i made because i cook from my heart.

Have a wonderful day!

Cheers!

MY DINNER FOR TONIGHT

Posted by Fiona-Faith-Chong at 10:19 PM 0 comments

Instant Noodle has always been the easier and fastest way to cure my hungry stomach. I can have it for lunch and dinner in one day without getting bored of it, especially when i am eating alone. Even though it is only instant noodle, you can also add in other types of ingredient to make your noodle look more attractive and taste more delicious. The usual ingredient that people will add into their noodle are eggs and sausages, which i do so too but i am more of a vege type of person. But normally i will only used up whatever left over ingredients i can find in my kitchen, so tonight i only found, chicken and chives dumplings, fish balls, cucumbers and for my instant noodles i have Kim Chi Flavour.

And this is how it looks like after everything is cooked (above). The combination of cucumbers with noodles is actually very refreshing and tasty.

Is cucumber a fruit or vegetable? It is actually a fruit that are effective when used for various skin problems, including swelling under the eyes and sunburn? They also contain ascorbic and caffeic acids and these acids prevent water retention.

So what are you waiting for? Start using cucumbers in your daily meal or juice for a healthier lifestyle. :)

Until next meal, Take care people...

DINNER FOR 2 - The Perfect Chicken

Posted by Fiona-Faith-Chong at 9:02 PM 0 comments

27th August 2009 @ 9.19pm

After two long weeks of non stop baking, i finally decide not to take anymore orders just for today to have a good rest. But then again, i could not bare to see myself sleeping through the evening without doing anything and waste a night. So i decide to make myself and sis a simple dinner just for two - Proscuitto-wrapped chicken breasts and to serve with it Potato and Spinach Salad.

Some people would think that Proscuitto is actually Bacon, but it's not. Proscuitto is the italian word for 'Ham'. It is usually sliced thin and served uncook. Proscuitto has been seasoned, salt-cured and air-dried, that's why it is harder and darker in colour compare to the fresh one and also it's more costly too. It is made from the hind leg of the pig.

I cleaned and dried the chicken breast before i insert a small pieces of Switzerland Gruyere in the center and then seasoned it with salt and pepper. I then wrapped the breasts with proscuitto and pan fried it with olive oil. When it is done, place it on a serving plate and let it rest for a few mintues to allow juices to be distributed.

The moment i cut through the meat, the juice from the chicken flows out with the melted Gruyere. I dare to say that this is the 'Prefect' chicken breast that i have ever cooked in my life. It was so moist and soft that you would not believe that it is made from chicken breast. I enjoyed it together with my salads and a cup of white wine. This is what i called 'Relaxation' and it is really amazing.

And the best part are yet to come, when my sister got back home from class to take her dinner. The first question she asked was, "How to you find your chicken today?", I answered 'It is good'. I was afraid that she didn't like it, because she seldom give compliment on the food that i cooked. But this time it's totally different, she said that she has always hated chicken breast because it is normally dry and rough but this is so moist and tender and it taste delicious and she loved the potato salad too. I could not stop smiling after that.

I guess all Chefs are looking forward for this moment only. Compliments from people on the food they cook and to see the smiles on people's faces each time they have a bite :)

I hope i will be able to keep and improve this standard of mine and be able to redo the exact texture next time. Amen!

Good Night Everyone!
